From the CEO - August 2024

Dear AFSPA Member,

Happy August! This month we are celebrating National Immunization Awareness Month, highlighting the vital role of vaccinations for everyone. It’s the perfect time to ensure you’re up to date on your routine vaccines and well-child visits, following the CDC’s recommended schedule. Also, don’t miss out on the latest updates about the AFSPA Member Portal, new and exciting financial wellness resources from Prudential, and the significance of updating your contact information during the Transfer/Permanent Change of Station (PCS) season. Stay healthy and informed, and always remember to Choose Health: Because You Matter!

National Immunization Awareness Month

This annual observance highlights the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. This is the time to get back on track with routine vaccines and catch up on well-child visits. Following the CDC’s recommended vaccine schedule provides your child with the best protection from potentially serious diseases. Children who are not protected by vaccines are more likely to get diseases like measles and whooping cough. These diseases are extremely contagious and can be very serious, especially for babies and young children. In recent years, there have been outbreaks of these diseases, especially in communities with low vaccination rates.

The Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP) covers annual physicals, well-child visits, and routine immunizations at 100% when received from a U.S. in-network or overseas provider or from a participating retail network pharmacy. FSBP members 18+ years and older can receive $100 in wellness rewards after completing their annual exam and biometric screening. Learn more about FSBP’s wellness rewards program here
