Dear AFSPA Member,
The AFSPA Annual Member Meeting is scheduled for today, Friday, March 1, at 11:00 am ET. I warmly welcome all AFSPA members to participate in this hybrid meeting. If you were unable to RSVP for the meeting in person, don’t worry! You can still join us online. To participate virtually, please register here before the event starts. We will be presenting valuable insights on AFSPA’s 2024 initiatives, and we are eagerly looking forward to your presence and your feedback.
1095-B Tax Document
As it is tax season, I wanted to remind you that a hard copy of your IRS 1095-B tax document will be automatically mailed to your mailing address. While it is not mandatory to have this document to file your taxes, it is recommended that you keep it in your 2023 tax file for reference. In case you have any questions about this form, please feel free to email enrollment@afspa.org or consult your tax professional.
Additionally, if you need any assistance with your taxes, AFSPA has partnered with Beers, Hamerman, Cohen & Burger, P.C., who can help you with expert accounting, tax, assurance, and personalized services. Special rates are available for AFSPA members. Please visit afspa.org/professionalservices to learn more about their services.
New! Wealth Management Resources
AFSPA and the Government Employees’ Benefit Association (GEBA) have formalized a strategic alliance to help members achieve financial goals like buying a home, funding college tuition, or preparing for transitions such as leaving federal employment or retirement.
Through this collaboration, members have access to GEBA’s Wealth Management team. These financial advisors are experienced, licensed, and credentialed in Federal benefits, so they understand the needs of federal employees. They will work closely with you to create personalized financial plans that align with your goals and aspirations. This partnership is a significant step towards ensuring financial security and success for our members. For more information about GEBA’s wealth management resources offered to AFSPA members, please visit afspa.org/professionalservices.
March is National Nutrition Month
Let’s set a goal for this month to motivate each other to make healthier food choices and engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day. Healthier food choices include consuming more vegetables and fruits while limiting foods with added sugars, sodium, and saturated fat. Moderate physical activities can be anything from brisk walking to easy jogging, swimming, playing sports, gardening, etc.
AFSPA offers a range of health and wellness programs as a part of your Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP) coverage. Programs such as our Lifestyle and Condition Coaching program, and Digital Coach Program can help you achieve your wellness goals. You can take advantage of discounts on weight management programs or nutrition services as well. Our theme for this year is “Choose Health: Because You Matter.” Your health is our top priority, and we encourage you to explore these amazing programs to keep yourself healthy and fit.
Finally, please continue to connect with us to learn more about how you can maximize your benefits and coverage through our blogs, weekly podcasts, social media platforms, and our free educational webinars. Look out for your 2024 AFSPA in Action Spring Newsletter coming soon to your mailbox next month. You can also read past issues of our newsletters on our website.
I wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy spring season. Thank you for your continued trust and for allowing us to serve you and your family.
To Choosing Your Health,
