Notification to Department of Defense (DOD) Civilian Employee Members

The Department of State (DOS) has approved an Authorized Departure from foreign areas to include Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees — and/or other eligible family members (EFMs) who may need to accompany them – who have determined they are at higher risk of a poor outcome if exposed to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

From the CEO

Greetings and Welcome to April 2020! The world has changed drastically since my March CEO message; COVID-19 has affected everyone around the globe by changing the way we work and interact. But the American Foreign Service Protective Association (AFSPA) wants to support you during these unique and challenging times.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update from FSBP

Dear FSBP Member:

In the week since I last wrote to you, the coronavirus/covid-19 has continued to spread. Officials and public health authorities at all levels and in various jurisdictions have implemented measures aimed at mitigating the effects of the coronavirus, including quarantine, isolation, and travel restrictions. I refer you to local authorities for guidance for your specific region.

Coronavirus COVID-19: FSBP Remains Ready

Dear FSBP Members:

Like many of you, we at AFSPA have been following the news of the outbreak of novel coronavirus/covid-19 around the globe. Many members live in areas overseas with large numbers of cases, including parts of China, South Korea, and Italy. Some members have been evacuated from their overseas posts back to the United States to reduce exposure.

Message about Coronavirus

With 34 confirmed cases in the United states and over 75,000 globally, people are understandably concerned about the Novel Coronavirus strain of the respiratory virus better known as COVID-19.
